May Update!

I can’t believe it’s already June! On the 9th I celebrated my one year anniversary at work. I’ve officially been working in the real world for a whole year! That’s seems unbelievable! May was a busy month for Matt and I. Almost every weekend, we were out and about somewhere.

At the beginning of the month, we went to Baltimore for our annual Yankee fix. We always try and catch one live Yankees game a year when they are close by. It’s usually when they play the Orioles at Camden Yards, though one year they did come to DC and play the Nationals. And as always, Matt and I were the lucky charm for the other team – every year, the Yankees always lose the game that we attend. I’m beginning to think it’s just meant to be. Now that the new stadium in finished in NY, we might have to make a pilgrimage to it sometime soon (though I hear tickets are outrageously expensive – maybe we will just admire it from the outside!).

Also in May, we both volunteered for the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar (HOBY). This year’s Virginia seminar was held at the University of Richmond. I attended this seminar my sophomore year in high school and have volunteered for the past two years. It’s a great program that brings together one 10th grader from each high school in Virginia and teaches great leadership and team building skills. This year, instead of acting as a facilitator and leading a group of students, I was able to act as the Director of Facilitators, taking a much more behind-the-scenes role than in previous years. I also “volunteered” Matt to help out as a facilitator this year – I passed on the torch of Team 3 (my team for the previous two years), and he did an excellent job maintaining the awesomeness. It’s a very tiring weekend (18 hours days for the entire weekend), but it’s so rewarding. I hope that we can both help out again next year.

Matt has been working over the past week on updating the website with new information. We are working on introducing a new photo gallery (using Picasa) that would make it easier for us to up-load pictures – hopefully this will encourage us to post stuff more frequently. We have also added information about our registry and maps to both the ceremony and reception/hotel locations.

June looks to be a productive month when it comes to wedding plans, so we will keep you all in the loop!
